prodigal love story enhanced by a Christmas backdrop Love Ben s courage to return and admit his mistakes But Anna is wary even as she strives to extend forgiveness A sweet, uplifting romance that embraces the true meaning of Christmas.A Christmas to Remember by Jo Ann Brown A touching story with a bit of mystery Love Amos the protector kind, steadfast, unflappable And Linda is so confused and vulnerable Not t These were two nice little romances set at Christmas. My favorite is the first story which is a reunion between Anna who is training to be a midwife in the Amish community and Ben Miller, the son of the midwife who is Anna s mentor.Three years ago, Ben and Anna declared their love and the next morning Ben jumped the fence, leaving the Amish community to travel. Now he is back and it s obvious that the years away have been tough on him and he seems to have unfinished business It s tough for Anna to trust him again, having opened her heart to him and been rejected She s carried that pain in silence as no one else knew The ending was satisfying. The second book is an amnesia trope and Amos finds a woman and child wandering around in the winter cold Linda has been injured and lost her memory and the child is too young to have useful details about th The Midwife s Christmas Surprise by Marta PerryThe Midwife s Christmas Surprise by Marta Perry is a sweet tale of returning home and making peace with yourself.Midwife Anna Zook lost her heart when Ben Miller left the Amish life 3 years ago, but now he is back and Anna is struggling with not only her feelings for Ben but conflict with others in the community,I loved this book by Marta Perry, she has a way of putting a refreshing spin on Amish stories and leaves you wanting.A Christmas to Remember by Jo Ann BrownWhen Linda opened her eyes, she didn t know where she was or who she was, all she knew was she was taking Polly to her Grandparents, but somehow she found herself in Lancaster, taking care of a little girl, being taken care of by Amos and his family. After being lied to by a woman 5 years ago, Amos d Two wonderful Christmas stories. The Midwife s Christmas Surprise Anna Zook was left behind shortly after Benjamin Miller declared his love for her She gave up even trying to find someone to replace him Three years later he reappears but is she ready to forgive him A Christmas to Remember When a small girl comes into Amos Stolzfus shop to steal a loaf of bread he follows her to the woman he thought sent her into the shop Finding a young woman with no memory of who she is or why she and the little girl are even there he takes her home to his family to help her recuperate from a nasty accident.I have no idea why I enjoy reading stories of the Amish at Christmas Perhaps because their lives are so simple and their belief in Christmas is exactly what it I had anticipated that this would be my last book of the year, but toward the end of The Midwife s Christmas Surprise and then all the way through A Christmas to Remember , I found myself turning pages far quickly than expected.I especially enjoyed how Jo Ann Brown who was a new to me author kept me guessing as to what had happened with Linda and why she had lost her memory I did have my suspicions about one particular thing, but how it all played out was actually surprising than I th The Midwife s Christmas Surprise by Marta Perry Three years ago, the man Anna Zook hoped to marry left her and their Amish community for the English world Now devoted to proving her abilities as a midwife, Anna has given up on marriage and children for herself But when Benjamin Miller returns, now a changed man, can delivering a Christmas baby reunite these two hurting hearts My thoughts THE MIDWIFE S CHRISTMAS SURPRISE is a really sweet story Anna is shy, insecure, and sweet, but struggling to be accepted as a midwife after she finished her apprenticeship Ben left the Amish, but now he s back, but it seems he lost everything, including the girl he loved Both Anna and Ben are out to prove themselves, but they do it in a gentle way This story was a pleasure to read Enjoyed this quiet escape to a snowy Amish landscape A Christmas to Remember by Jo Ann Brown When a little girl leads shop owner Amos Stoltzfus to an Amish woman in distress, he rushes them to his family s farm Linda has no memory and doesn t know if the sweet child is her daughter or even her kin As Christmas arrives and Linda s identity is revealed, will Amos be able to claim his holiday guests as his own My thoughts Amos is a kind, considerate A This is a nice relaxing read with two gentle romance novellas set in Amish country I preferred the first which follows a new midwife Some of the locals are a bit suspicious of a stranger and aren t keen on the way she serves the wider community as well But in the deep Christmas snow, just travelling is hard enough, and as Amish ladies don t like going to hospitals the conscientious midwife is very important The second story shows a shopkeeper who finds a young woman and little girl wandering in the snow The woman has amnesia and doesn t know who they are or why they were there The child provides considerably less information than is realistic All the unmarried shopkeeper can do is bring them home to his mother, who is obliged to help those in need I have enjoyed other Amish romances , but we get a good look at winter weather and understated Christmas preparations A little too much of kids pageants for me as a reader, though I am sure they are a b
